Allotments

Under Section 23 of Small Holdings and Allotments Act 1908, a duty is placed upon Local Authorities to provide areas of land set aside for allotments, where they perceive there is a demand. In the District of Somerset, this is provided by both District, Town and Parish Councils.

The town council owns 8 areas of land within central Taunton, which are operated as Allotments. These sites are maintained and managed by Local Allotment Associations.
